The city’s new media art installation
The Incheon Free Economic Zone has announced that it is in discussions on the Incheon Startup Park Media Installation Project.
This project would be located at the Incheon University Station Intersection. It would involve installing a giant media billboard of 528m² (528m wide × 10m long) on the outer wall of Incheon Startup Park. This could lead to a future city landscape that combines landmark buildings and digital media. Future talks will discuss the location of the media installation, the operation management plan with the relevant departments, and the promotion of billboard installation and content development. In addition, the media art produced will be completed in February of next year after a demonstration event, which will introduce the project to the citizens at the end of this year. With the goal of ‘Creating Media with Citizens,’ the media billboard will produce various content, such as IFEZ vision promotion, content for local residents, seasonal videos, and citizen-produced content.
Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, Turkey Biotech Valley and Exchange and Cooperation MOU Signed
Recently, Commissioner Won Sok Yun of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority invited officials from the Turkey Biotechnology Specialized Industrial Complex (Turkey Biotech Valley) and the Turkish delegation to attend the ‘2024 Bioplus-Interpex Korea’ as a guest country event held at the G Tower in Songdo International City. They signed a cooperation MOU during the event. The agreement fostered exchange and cooperation between the two organizations and the sharing of Songdo Bio Cluster cases. The primary purpose of this agreement is to establish a framework for cooperation between the two organizations, promote investment and exchange in the future, provide relevant information to companies wishing to move into each cluster, and encourage mutual investment and technological exchange. The Turkey Biotech Valley received its permit from the Turkey Ministry of Industry and Technology in 2022 and is scheduled to begin construction in the second half of this year. This will create a biotechnology-specialized industrial complex in Istanbul with 120 manufacturing companies, 200 small and medium-sized enterprises, and 300 startups.
Incheon New Port Access Road Underpass, Pre-Feasibility Study Passed... Target for Completion in 2029
The Incheon New Port Access Road Underpass Construction Project has passed the Ministry of Strategy and Finance’s preliminary feasibility study. Next, a safe and comfortable living environment plan is expected to be completed soon. Incheon Free Economic Zone Commissioner Won Sok Yun announced that the ‘Incheon New Port Access Road Underpass Construction Project’, a long-awaited local project, passed the government’s preliminary feasibility study. This project, which is being promoted with the goal of ‘reasonable coexistence of the port and the city,’ aims to build a four-lane round trip from Incheon New Aero to Hogupo-ro in Namdong-gu. The trip will be 5.25 km long (4.263 km of underpass, 0.99 km of overpass) and will be funded by local and national sources. IFEZ has established a strategy to secure continuous traffic flow in the area, and significantly increase convenience by a new business plan to integrate the two projects of Songdo Bridge overpass and underpass into a single project.

and Industry Gangnam District Chamber of Commerce Join Hands to Encourage Investment Attraction
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has signed a business agreement with the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gangnam District Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the IFEZ Business Center in G Tower, Songdo International City, to attract investment and exchange information on corporate management support. This business agreement was signed to find potential investors in Gangnam District and the metropolitan area and to seek ways to attract investment, mainly with a focus on: 1) discovering potential investors using regional networks and expertise, 2) exchanging know-how and information related to corporate management support, and 3), cooperating on joint investment attraction IR, etc. Established in 2003, Gangnam District Chamber of Commerce and Industry is an economic organization that promotes management support and information exchange for small and medium-sized enterprises in Gangnam District, Seoul.

Incheon Citizens’ Day Memorial Event and
‘IFEZ Culture Events’ upcoming
IFEZ will host a variety of upcoming cultural events. The Yeongjong World Food Festival will be held at the Yeongjong Seaside Park Sky Cloud Square on September 28. Visitors can enjoy international cuisine and be entertained by outdoor movie screenings and fall concerts. In addition, on October 5th and 6th, the Cheongna Wine Festival will be held in Cheongna Lake Park Flower Music Island. The 10th-anniversary celebration of the Incheon Citizen’s Day Memorial will take place from October 15th to 17th at Gyeongwonjae Ambassador Hotel. The event will feature performances, food booths, a flea market, and exhibitions.
Yeongjong Seaside Park, Water Purifiers Installed
‘Cold and Hot Water Gushing’
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has installed a large water purifier to provide cold and hot water in Yeongjong Seaside Park. A large water purifier was installed near Barefoot Road, near the seawater footbath, where citizens frequently visit. It provides purified cold and hot water all year round. Considering the large number of park users, five water drinking fountains and one hot water drinking fountain were installed so that multiple people could use them simultaneously. The care of cold and hot water drinking facilities will be entrusted to a specialized company, just like the care of water purifiers used at home. The company will periodically inspect, replace, and manage the water purifier filters and will do its utmost to ensure cleanliness and hygiene so that citizens can use them with confidence. The water purifier installation in the park is a campaign promise and citizen proposal project of Incheon Metropolitan City Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok in the past 8th local government election.
Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, Utah University Students, and Content Creation for Foreigners in Korea
A new movement of public-academic cooperation between the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority and foreign universities in the region has begun to make IFEZ a global top-10 city. Recently, the Incheon Economic Free Zone Authority signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding for Global Content Internship’ with the Utah University Asia Campus. According to the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, this internship program will utilize IFEZ’s global media studio. The goal is to provide living information to foreigners and produce content to improve their living conditions. The internship is scheduled to start in the fall semester of this year. Utah University (Department of Journalism and Broadcasting) will select and manage interns and produce content, while Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority will provide allowances and administrative support. The content will be composed in various ways, including information on living in foreign countries, a visit to a foreigner-friendly business certification system, an introduction to Incheon’s history.
Songdo Central Park Selected as
Beautiful Urban Forest
Songdo Central Park has been selected as one of the “50 Beautiful Urban Forests” hosted by the Forest Service. According to the Incheon Free Economic Zone, Songdo Central Park was selected for its landscape, which embodies the harmony between natural and urban environments under the theme of urban forests. Songdo Central Park, completed in 2009, is the flagship park of Songdo International City. It extends 1.8 km along the West Sea, the first of its kind in Korea. At the end of last year, five pedestrian bridges were installed in Central Park, transforming the park into a beautifully illuminated park at night.
