National Museum of World Letter

National Museum of World Writing Systems

What might a journey across time and space look like when led by writing? Opened in 2023, the National Museum of World Writing Systems is the third writing-focused museum in the world, following France’s Champollion Museum and China’s National Museum of Chinese Writing. Spanning from cuneiform, humanity’s earliest writing system to Hangul, Korea’s uniquely original script, the exhibition reveals the captivating stories of history and culture hidden within written language. As you explore Part 1, “Writing: Opening Paths,” which introduces some of humanity’s core scripts, and Part 2, “Writing: Making Cultures,” which highlights the great power of writing, you will find that half a day has slipped by almost unnoticed. Regardless of the weather, a single walk through the museum offers a rich journey through world cultures.

+ The Exhibition “Make Haste Slowly: Aldus Manutius,

the Great Publisher Who Changed the World”

Aldus Manutius was a great publisher during the Renaissance in the 16th century. He devoted his life to sharing precious books—once reserved exclusively for the privileged—with the wider public. This special exhibition, which explores his cultural legacy in advancing the dissemination of knowledge through books, is open until January 25. Visitors are invited to explore how a single book can change the world.

+ Outdoor Architectural Installation, Pages

Located on the second floor, the outdoor architectural installation offers a perfect harmony between written language and architectural design. A white wall shaped after scrolls—the origin of books—harmonizes delicately with the grassy hill. Sculptural pieces inspired by the concept of resonance reveal themselves unexpectedly throughout the space. Through the cafeteria’s full-height glass walls, visitors can also enjoy a picturesque view of the installation.

IFEZ Promotion Center

IFEZ Promotion Center

The city observatory is the most dynamic theater above the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Rising 33 stories tall and 157.9 meters above the city center of Songdo, the IFEZ Promotion Center boasts 360-degree panoramic views through its floor-to-ceiling glass walls. From the constantly changing urban landscape to the distant West Sea, the scenery extends in a sweeping panorama. During the day, you will enjoy the vibrant city; at dusk, the sky glows with crimson hues; and by night, the sparkling nightscape. The immersive digital media that artistically portrays IFEZ’s evolution from past to future provides an unforgettable experience. You’ll forget the cold of winter as you are absorbed into the romantic winter scenery interwoven with cutting-edge technology.

+ Media art installation ‘Tunnel of Light’

The Tunnel of Light, which reimagines IFEZ’s journey from tidal flats to a futuristic city through media art, is a must-visit attraction. Images unfold across all four walls, heightening the sense of immersion and making visitors feel as though they have stepped into another world. Through the beautiful light, visitors are brought into a harmony of technology, art, history, and culture.

+ G-Tower, Songdo’s Landmark

Having won numerous architectural awards, G-Tower stands out for its exceptional sculptural beauty. At first glance, it appears as a simple cuboid. However, upon second look, a dynamic vision unfolds through the variations of triangular elements twisting upward. The highlight is the sky garden—a 25-meter-deep inverted slope—that amplifies the building’s grandeur, as though the structure itself were roaring toward the West Sea.
