The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) announced that it will host the “Global Top 10 City Week 2025” from December 1 to 4 at Songdo Convensia and Gyeongwonjae by Walkerhill.
This global innovation week integrates IFEZ’s core strategic areas including smart cities, bio, and sustainability, designed to present a model for “AI-based future cities” where AI and advanced technologies converge across urban, industrial, and environmental sectors, and to create an industry-academia-research cooperation ecosystem.
IFEZ officially declared the world’s first “AI City Initiative” at the opening ceremony on the morning of December 1. The AI City Initiative is an international declaration to lead the transformation into “AI cities where AI operates as the core brain of the city.”
This aims to build an AI-Driven Urban Ecosystem where AI predicts, judges, and decides on traffic, energy, environment, safety, and administrative services in real-time, based on an AI City Platform that integrates and analyzes data from across the city.
The key components include ▲AI-Based Urban Model Architecture ▲AI-Bio Industry Enablement System ▲AI Startup Empowerment System ▲AI-Driven Urban Service and Operation Center System.
IFEZ plans to develop this into a “global standard model where AI learns and operates cities,” and to transplant and expand successfully built systems to other cities.
In particular, IFEZ plans to form a consultative body with cities participating in the IFEZ Smart City Summit and pursue AI city strategy and technology sharing as well as joint projects with cities in Asia, Middle East, and Africa.
IFEZ Commissioner Yun Won-sok said, “The AI City Initiative is a new urban management philosophy where cities learn data by themselves and predict and improve citizens’ lives,” adding, “IFEZ will serve as a hub for innovation and cooperation.”
