Photo Caption: On Friday, October 21, 2011, IFEZ held the “7th Meeting of Commissioners of Free Economic Zones” at the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority. At the meeting, commissioners from free economic zones across the nation gathered to discuss ways to revitalize free economic zone development, expand investment attraction, and improve related systems. Free economic zones in the Republic of Korea are special economic zones designed to improve the business environment and living conditions for foreign-invested companies, while promoting investment and corporate activities through deregulation and incentives. Currently, nine free economic zones are being developed and operated: Incheon, Busan-Jinhae, Gwangyang Bay Area, Gyeonggi, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Gangwon, Chungbuk, Gwangju, and Ulsan.
