On Tuesday, October 25, 2011, IFEZ signed an agreement with Ghent University of Belgium to establish a branch campus within the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) in Songdo International City. The agreement was designed to attract a prestigious overseas university with strong competitiveness in the fields of biotechnology and life sciences and to promote the development of a global education and research hub. Ghent University, founded in 1817 in the city of Ghent, Belgium, is a comprehensive university known for its strengths in biotechnology and agricultural and life sciences.
