On Tuesday, June 12, 2012, IFEZ held a forum on the Songdo International City waterfront project. The forum was organized to discuss the direction of the Songdo International City Waterfront Project, which aims to connect 21.2 kilometers of waterways and retention basins in a square-shaped network to establish a seawater circulation system, improve water quality, and strengthen response capacity to heavy rainfall. The project was planned to be implemented in phases with the goals of promoting marine leisure and tourism and creating waterfront-friendly spaces. Development of waterfront facilities, including an artificial beach and a multi-purpose marina resort around the lakes in Sectors 6 and 8, was also reviewed.
