On Tuesday, November 20, 2012, IFEZ held a completion ceremony for the Phase 1 development of the Songdo Global University Campus in Songdo International City. The ceremony marked the completion of Phase 1 Sections 1 and 2, which began construction in July 2009. With a total project cost of KRW 504 billion (approximately USD 464 million), the project delivered lecture and research buildings, student dormitories, faculty apartments, a grand auditorium, a library, a gymnasium, and a guest house. The Phase 1 facilities can accommodate up to 5,000 students and were planned to host, following the State University of New York Korea, George Mason University in 2013, and the University of Utah and Ghent University in 2014.
