On October 14, 2013 (Monday), the Association of World Election Bodies held its inaugural general assembly at Songdo Convensia in Songdo International City. The assembly was organized to expand exchanges of information, knowledge, and experience among election management bodies around the world and to build an international cooperation framework for promoting free and fair election models. Participating institutions formally adopted the founding charter and confirmed the establishment of the secretariat in the Republic of Korea, which later took on the role of an international hub for election cooperation in Songdo International City.
