On December 11, 2013 (Wednesday), the POSCO Educational Foundation held a groundbreaking ceremony in Songdo International City for the construction of Songdo POSCO Autonomous Private High School. The project was launched to expand regional educational infrastructure and lay the foundation for nurturing talented students. With an investment of KRW 23 billion (approximately USD 21.7 million), the school was planned on a 25,000㎡ site and was to include classroom buildings, a library, a gymnasium, an audiovisual room, a large playground, and a cafeteria. The school was designed to accommodate 24 classes and 720 students, with an opening scheduled for March 2015. The POSCO Educational Foundation is an educational foundation that has established and operated institutions including Pohang Steel High School and Gwangyang Steel High School.
