On Monday, October 20, 2014, Ajinomoto Genexine held an opening ceremony for its cell culture media manufacturing facility. Ajinomoto Genexine is a joint venture established through a total investment of KRW 35.7 billion (approximately USD 33 million) by Ajinomoto of Japan and Genexine, a Korean biotechnology venture company, and built the facility on an 11,000㎡ site in the Advanced Industry Cluster of District 5 in Songdo International City. The plant is the first facility in Korea to produce Ajinomoto’s patented serum-free cell culture media domestically, and it was designed to meet Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements in major countries and to incorporate an automated production system. Based on this facility, Ajinomoto Genexine plans to provide high-quality media and customized services to the Korean and Asian markets.
