On Wednesday, March 25, 2015, IFEZ signed a memorandum of understanding with the Weihai Municipal People’s Government of China for local economic cooperation under the Korea-China Free Trade Agreement. The agreement was prepared to begin full-scale cooperation projects at the local-government level after the Incheon Free Economic Zone and Weihai were designated as pilot zones for the Korea-China Free Trade Agreement. The two sides planned to jointly identify pilot cooperation projects in trade, investment, services, industry, tourism, and e-commerce, while also pursuing in phases the easing of non-tariff barriers in customs, logistics, and testing and certification, as well as the creation of Korea-China industrial complexes.
