On Tuesday, May 12, 2015, Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) signed an investment agreement with Olympus Korea at Sheraton Incheon Hotel for the company’s entry into Songdo International City. Olympus Korea planned to build a medical training center and service center on a 5,056㎡ site in the Advanced Industry Cluster Zone 5 of Songdo International City, with a total floor area of approximately 6,611㎡ and a scale of one basement level and four above-ground floors, targeting completion by February 2017. Olympus is a medical device company that began with microscope production in 1919 and has maintained the world’s leading market share in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
