On Tuesday, June 9, 2015, Incheon Urban Development Corporation, China’s Shinhwa Lian Group, and Midan City Development signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to attract a mixed-use resort to Midan City. Under the agreement, Incheon Urban Development Corporation planned to provide land and administrative support for the project on an approximately 160,000㎡ site in Unbuk-dong, Jung-gu, Incheon, while Shinhwa Lian Group planned to pursue the development concept for an integrated resort including a hotel, shopping facilities, convention facilities, and a foreigners-only casino. Midan City Development participated in project cooperation and development support. Shinhwa Lian Group is a Chinese private-sector business group engaged in petroleum, chemicals, mining, and real estate.
