On Thursday, November 28, 2019, Incheon Metropolitan City held a conference on plans to create a waterbird wetland in Songdo International City. The conference was organized to commemorate the signing of a sister site memorandum of understanding with Hong Kong under the East Asian-Australasian Flyway Partnership and to discuss the creation of an alternative bird habitat in the buffer green zone along the eastern upper shoreline of District 11-2 in Songdo International City. Covering about 100,000 square meters, the site is planned to include shallow wetlands and exposed land areas suited to legally protected species and various waterbirds near the coastal area.
