On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) signed an agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific Korea to foster the bio-pharmaceutical research and processing sector of the bio cluster in Songdo International City. Under the agreement, the Thermo Fisher Bioprocess Design Center to be established in Songdo International City will be equipped with about 100 pieces of equipment covering basic research through production of biopharmaceuticals, including animal cell and microbial culture rooms that replicate actual biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, media and buffer preparation rooms for cell culture, and purification and analytical laboratories. Thermo Fisher Scientific is a global company specializing in life sciences, analytical instruments, specialty diagnostics, and laboratory services.
