On Monday, May 24, 2021, IFEZ signed a business agreement with seven free economic zone authorities in Korea and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology to promote regulatory innovation in free economic zones. Under the agreement, the free economic zone authorities agreed to work with their respective local governments to identify existing regulations, ease regulatory barriers, and strengthen support for companies granted regulatory sandbox demonstration exemptions. The Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, as the dedicated regulatory sandbox agency, agreed to cooperate in identifying demand for regulatory innovation in free economic zones and in supporting companies applying for the regulatory sandbox program. The agreement laid the groundwork for accelerating the demonstration and market entry of new technologies and services.
