On Monday, November 29, 2021, IFEZ held the 8th Innovation Promotion Council and the 25th National Free Economic Zone Commissioners’ Council Meeting. The meeting was attended by about 50 officials, including commissioners from nine free economic zones across Korea—Incheon Metropolitan City, Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority, Gyeonggi Free Economic Zone Authority, Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, East Coast Free Economic Zone Authority, Chungbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, Gwangju Free Economic Zone Authority, and Ulsan Free Economic Zone Authority—as well as officials from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. Participants adopted seven institutional improvement agenda items, including expanding the scope of reinvestment of free economic zone development profits, unifying approval authority for development and implementation plans, and strengthening commissioners’ authority over land supply methods, and submitted them to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in the form of a joint proposal.
