On Wednesday, May 17, 2023, Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority signed a memorandum of understanding in Cheongna International City with Korea Land and Housing Corporation and DigiPen Institute of Technology for the development of G-Tech City, a specialized complex for the e-sports and game industry. The project is planned to invest more than KRW 1.62 trillion (approximately USD 1.22 billion) to develop a specialized game-industry complex centered on the e-sports industry on a site of approximately 260,395 square meters in Block 6 of Cheongna International City. Planned facilities include educational facilities for fostering global game talent, research and development facilities, innovation districts and studios for domestic and international game companies, a knowledge industry center, tourism MICE facilities, and a game entertainment district. DigiPen Institute of Technology is an educational institution specializing in game development, computer engineering, and digital art.
