On Tuesday, December 6, 2005, IFEZ signed an investment memorandum of understanding worth USD 100 million (approximately KRW 105 billion) with VGX (Viral Genomix, Inc), a U.S. drug development company, to establish a drug development research and development center and a manufacturing plant in Songdo International City. VGX is a company engaged in the development of gene-based therapeutics and biopharmaceuticals. Under the agreement, a facility combining biotechnology research, development, and production functions will be established in Songdo International City, and the project will contribute to strengthening the foundation of the biotechnology industry and promoting related investment attraction.
