On April 11, 2006 (Tuesday), Incheon Metropolitan City held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Incheon Aquarium at Aamdo Marine Park. The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City and related officials, and the Incheon Aquarium is scheduled to be completed in 2007. The facility will include 69 tanks and exhibition space with a total capacity of 3,920 tons, and it will be developed as the world’s largest aquarium, showcasing approximately 650 species and 53,300 marine animals. The project is expected to contribute to the expansion of marine tourism infrastructure and the revitalization of the regional tourism industry.
