On April 24, 2006 (Monday), Incheon Metropolitan City held a commemorative ceremony for the relocation of the Korea Polar Research Institute at Gaetbeol Tower in the Incheon Free Economic Zone, with the attendance of the Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, the Commissioner of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, and the Chairperson of the Korea Research Council of Public Science and Technology. The relocation served as an opportunity to strengthen polar research functions and expand the foundation for research cooperation. The Korea Polar Research Institute is a research institution leading responses to climate change and the advancement of polar science and technology, and it is expected to enhance its research capacity in Incheon while contributing to international joint research and the creation of future value.
