On June 16, 2006 (Friday), the Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT) opened in Songdo International City. About 300 domestic and international participants attended the opening ceremony, including the Minister of Information and Communication, the Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), and the Acting Director of APCICT. As Korea’s first United Nations subsidiary body, APCICT will operate in a facility of about 500 pyeong on the third floor of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority building and will provide information and communication technology education, advisory services, and joint research for policymakers and professional managers from 62 member states in the Asia-Pacific region.
