On July 14, 2006 (Friday), Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ) signed a business cooperation agreement with Korea Electric Power Corporation for the development of u-City in Songdo International City. Under the agreement, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority will support the use of public facilities and sites, while Korea Electric Power Corporation will provide satellite communication technology for the emergency communication network of the u-City Integrated Control Center, power line communication (PLC) technology for areas with weak information and communication infrastructure, and advanced technologies related to electricity transmission, distribution, and substations. The agreement is expected to contribute to building an advanced urban foundation and stable power and communication infrastructure in Songdo International City.
