On July 24, 2006 (Monday), the Incheon Free Economic Zone (IFEZ) held the groundbreaking ceremony for Cheongna International City. About 350 people, including the Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City and the President of Korea Land Corporation, attended the event, signaling the full-scale start of the Cheongna International City development project. Cheongna International City is planned as a self-sustaining international city integrating international finance, leisure, residential, and advanced business functions, and it is expected to serve as a key hub in the northern part of the Free Economic Zone. The groundbreaking is expected to contribute to the establishment of urban infrastructure, expanded investment attraction, and stronger development momentum in the northwestern part of the region.
