On September 6, 2006 (Wednesday), the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority held the opening ceremony for the u-IT Cluster Promotion Center on the seventh floor of Gaetbeol Tower in Songdo International City. The event was attended by members of the Incheon Metropolitan City Council, the President of the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology Industry, the President of the National Computerization Agency, and other related officials. The center was established to foster Songdo International City as a hub for an RFID- and USN-based u-IT cluster and to support the development of ubiquitous city infrastructure and the concentration of advanced information and communication industries. It is expected to contribute to strengthening cooperation among related companies, research institutes, and universities, as well as supporting technology demonstration and industrial development.
