On September 12, 2006 (Tuesday), Incheon Metropolitan City, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ), and the Urban Development Corporation signed an agreement with Fiera Milano for the construction of an international exhibition center in Yeongjong International City. The event was attended by Michele Perin, President of Fiera Milano, and Massimo Andrea Legger, Italian Ambassador to Korea. The exhibition center was planned as an exhibition and convention hub linked to Incheon International Airport, and its phased development, including two exhibition halls totaling 100,000 square meters and 50,000 square meters of support facilities, is expected to strengthen the international exhibition industry as well as tourism and logistics functions.
