On Monday, May 17, 2010, the Subregional Office for East and North-East Asia of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) opened in Songdo International City. The opening strengthened the foundation for international cooperation for economic and social collaboration and sustainable development in East and North-East Asia, while also serving as an opportunity to expand the concentration of international organizations in Songdo International City. The office will promote joint research on regional issues, policy cooperation, and the establishment of international networks in the region.
