On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, Incheon Metropolitan City, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, Yeongjong-gu District Office, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, and Incheon Urban Corporation signed an investment and tenancy agreement for the construction and coexistence of the Korean Air MRO cluster with Korean Air Co., Ltd. Korean Air Co., Ltd. is a specialized maintenance enterprise that performs the entire process of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) to maintain aircraft safety and performance. Through this agreement, Korean Air Co., Ltd. plans to invest KRW 150 billion (approximately USD 112 million) on a 50,692 square meter site in the Yeongjong Aviation General Industrial Complex (I1-⑤ and I1-⑥) to build engine and component maintenance facilities with a total floor area of 101,151.06 square meters. The construction period is scheduled from January 2029 to December 2031, with expectations of creating over 2,000 jobs including approximately 500 positions upon completion. The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority expects that this agreement will help Yeongjong International City leap forward as a core hub for South Korea's aviation industry.
